OpenOffice.org, the office suite included in Edubuntu, is a full-featured office suite featuring applications compatible with Microsoft Office. Students using OpenOffice.org can create documents, spreadsheets, slide shows, and databases which can be transported back and forth to Microsoft Office.
Edubuntu uses the Firefox Internet browser, a popular browser even among people who don’t use Linux. Gcompris and KDE Edutainment suite provide almost any type of educational and multimedia application most students or teachers would need.
Edubuntu also includes the Linux Terminal Server Project (LTSP), allowing up to 30 clients to run from a single classroom server, and making possible Project TREE’s “electronic classroom”!
