Discarding perfectly usable computer hardware fills up scarce landfill space, exposes toxins to the environment, and wastes resources that still have value. Most computers are discarded simply because newer, faster versions are available. The reality is, most office and educational applications don’t require giant hard drives, huge chunks of RAM, or blazing-fast processors.
Suppose you could put just one really fast computer in a classroom, and all the other computers in the room could take advantage of its capabilities, regardless of how old or how fast they were? Congratulations! You’ve just discovered the beauty of thin-client technology!
