Hi

I have considered playing around with older computers and open source software. i have even made enquiries but the prospect of trying to do something o my own is just too daunting. I teach middle school maths...

So I saw this Ning and I thought that I would hang around for a while and see what you guys were talking about and doing. Maybe... you might inspire me.

There are heaps of old machines around. As soon as machine go out of warranty school dump them because they can't afford the technician time to maintain out of warranty machines.

So there is plenty of raw material. However, taking the raw material and getting it working efficiently in my classroom is much more difficult.
