As many of you know, Ning has changed their business model and no longer offers free pages. There are a large number of sites on Ning which are education-related. Many of them are operated by individual teachers, classes, schools, etc, and do not have the money to pay for an account. Thanks to the generosity of Pearson Education, a large number of education-related sites, including this one, are able to continue. Thank you, Pearson, for your support of education and Ning!
Ulteo's Open Virtual Desktop adds still another approach to providing student access to technology in schools. With a browser-based virtual desktop, software is unlinked from hardware. Schools can choose the mix of open source & regular software that best meets their needs, and legacy hardware can be used to access the virtual desktop from anywhere.
